About the Event

Collaborating with clinicians in the adoption of best practice of anesthesia gas administration during surgery requires consideration of multiple factors, including clinical efficacy, environmental impact, and cost of care. Significant practice variations among clinicians exist without strong, supportive evidence. Reducing this variation can be a significant opportunity for hospitals to reduce costs and environmental harm without negatively affecting patient experience or quality. Leading practice anesthetic agent use should also drive purchasing agreements for gas and disposables, capital decisions, and other supply chain strategies.

How this Session Relates to the Cost, Quality, and Outcomes (CQO) Movement: Standardizing to best practice use of anesthesia gas requires balancing multiple factors, including clinical quality, environmental effects, and creative vendor strategies that can only be achieved through a clinical integration model of supply chain team partnering with anesthesia providers. As more clinically integrated models like these are developed, it will lead the furthering of CQO achievements.
